Ready to Become a Divemaster?

To qualify as an SSI Divemaster, you must:

✅ Log a minimum of 60 dives

✅ Complete the Divemaster program with a certified instructor

✅ Hold a valid medical clearance

✅ Apply for SSI Divemaster membership

✅ Prove you can swim 400 meters and float unaided for 15 minutes

Divemaster Training Structure

The Divemaster program is broken down into TWO PART: Each of these is detailed below. We offer the Divemaster program under SSI, which is a far more thorough program as compared to other dive certification agencies available in the country. As part of the SSI Divemaster Course, the student has to undergo several core certification programs along the way, progressively rising through levels such as Specialty Diver (Level 2), Advanced Open Water Diver (Level 3), and then Master Diver (Level 4) before moving on to the Dive Leader Programs to ultimately qualify as a Divemaster.

PART 1: Become a Master Diver To begin your Divemaster journey, you must first qualify as a Master Diver. This requires completing 50+ dives and the following core specialty courses:

Core Specialty Courses:

Deep Diving – Dive safely to 40 meters
Enriched Air Nitrox – Guide dives using Nitrox
Navigation – Learn underwater navigation & site mapping
Night & Limited Visibility – Lead dives in low visibility conditions

Emergency Training Programs:

Diver Stress & Rescue – Identify and manage diver stress & rescue scenarios

React Right – Emergency First Response (CPR, AED, Oxygen)

After the completion of these specialty courses you will be qualified as a Dive Master.

✅ Completion of Part 1 = Master Diver Certification
On completion of Part 1, you will be in a position to qualify as a Master Diver, which is the highest level of a recreational diver (Subject to completion of a total of 50 logged dives). Following this, you will then be ready for PART 2, as detailed below.

PART 2: Dive Leadership & Theory This part focuses on leadership skills and deep theoretical knowledge.

Dive Guide

This is SSI’s Equivalent to the Divemaster program from other agencies. It qualifies a student to get certified as a Dive Guide, where one can officially become a Dive Pro and seek job opportunities as a Dive Leader.

Science of Diving
This is an exhaustive theory-based course, that we believe is needed to become a Divemaster and it covers the theory for Physics, Physiology, Aquatic Environment, Decompression theory, and Diving Equipment.

On completion of the Dive Guide + Science of Diving Program, the student gets awarded the Divemaster Recognition.

✅ Completion of Part 2 = SSI Divemaster Certification

The Dive Guide course is available as a non-professional and a professional level.

With the non-professional level, you will be certified to lead family and friends, but not work as a guide.
With the professional level, you will be certified to work as a dive guide, leading certified divers from around the world.
